"No experience required" needs a disclaimer: it means no prior professional experience in the field, not no preparation at all. Every role on this list can be broken into with 1–6 months of self-directed learning, a portfolio or certification, and a strategic job search. The remote job market tightened in 2024–2025 as employers pulled back hybrid arrangements, but fully remote positions paying $60k+ are still widely available — they just require more intentional positioning than they did in 2021.

Cybersecurity (CompTIA Security+): The CompTIA Security+ certification ($390 exam fee) is the industry baseline for entry-level security roles. With 3–4 months of study using Professor Messer's free materials and Darril Gibson's study guide, passing is achievable for someone with basic computer literacy. Job demand is structural — there are consistently more open positions than qualified candidates. Starting salaries of $65k–$75k are realistic for a Security+ holder applying to government contractor roles or mid-size tech companies.
Cloud Support (AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner): AWS, Google, and Azure all run free foundational training programs. The AWS Cloud Practitioner certification ($100 exam) plus the AWS Solutions Architect Associate ($150 exam) over 5–6 months of consistent study positions someone for a $60k–$80k cloud support or junior cloud admin role. Amazon specifically pipelines qualified candidates from its AWS re/Start program into cloud roles.
Customer Success (SaaS): The easiest non-technical path on this list. Customer Success Managers at SaaS companies help clients adopt software and renew contracts. Companies hire for communication ability, problem-solving, and organizational skills over technical background. Building transferable skills from any customer-facing role (retail, hospitality, call center) and applying specifically to smaller SaaS companies is the fastest on-ramp.
Remote job competition is higher than in-person competition because the candidate pool is national (or global). A generic resume doesn't compete. To stand out at the entry level, you need: a resume tailored to each job description's exact keywords (most companies use ATS software that filters before a human reads it), one or two concrete portfolio items (a sample analysis, a writing sample, a GitHub repo, a case study), and ideally a referral from someone inside the company or a recruiter connection on LinkedIn.
Apply to 3–5 carefully tailored positions per week rather than 50 generic applications. The response rate is meaningfully higher for targeted applications, and the interview prep time is better spent.
